Ourso College of Business, is seeking a mission-driven, experienced professional with exceptional fundraising abilities to serve as Senior Director of Development. Reporting jointly to the Dean of the college and Assistant Vice President of Development at the LSU Foundation, the Senior Director will build and manage a dynamic team of development professionals and cultivate and solicit prospect donors with the potential to contribute major gifts aimed at meeting the strategic goals of the college, university, and Foundation.For the motivated development professional, the E. Essential Responsibilities

  • Manages the overall strategic vision of the development office; manages and coaches development officers toward strategic major gift activity
  • Maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and ensures the dean is engaged with high-level donors, prospective donors, and volunteers
  • Works with the Advancement Services staff to track and plan identification of, cultivation of, and contact with donor prospects
  • Collaborates with the Corporate and Foundation Relations office
  • Assists with the management and recordkeeping of the college’s fundraising effort, including campaign planning and financial reporting
  • Assists in the communication and coordination of activities with fundraising agencies, including the LSU Foundation, LSU Alumni Association, Tiger Athletic Foundation offices, and outside parties
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least five years’ experience of major gift work or nonprofit fundraising
  • Proven track record of identifying, cultivations, soliciting and closing high level gifts from individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to be independent and a self-starter
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Significant managerial experience
  • Proven track record of soliciting and securing major gifts of $100K and greater
  • Familiarity with electronic university advancement databases
